Barry found God on AC/DC's Highway to Hell tour. His journey from sound technician to pastor was quite circuitous, with stops at Fuller Theological Seminary's School of World Mission along the way. He recently completed his PhD in Postmodern Studies at Fuller. His music is featured in Agnieszka Holland's film The Third Miracle, Tim Bui's Green Dragon and on his own 2007 CD Rio da Duvida (The River of Doubt).

He has a philosophical mind for our time, presenting the gospel in contemporary context. He draws his teachings from life itself and integrates centuries of theological and philosophical views to express the relevance of Jesus Christ in contemporary society. Barry has become a frequent preacher at All Saints', including the God in the Movies sermon series for the last two years. He leads Se7en, the Sunday evening alternative worship service at ASBH and, from January 2008, is responsible for the brand new 10:15 a.m. Sunday service.

Barry is an international conference speaker and book author and, through his music CDs, he reaches people who might otherwise not hear his message of faith. As an adjunct professor at Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, California, he touches the lives of his students with a dramatic, thought-provoking edge. Teaching on Pop Culture, Cultural Change and Faith, he speaks on issues of spirituality that many struggle to understand.

He travels and speaks throughout the world with a view on spirituality and human need that is opening the door to faith for many people. This is most evident by the moving dedication to Jesus made by millions of Russian citizens following the broadcast of a television show on Christianity that Barry hosted.
