The Rev. Maryetta Anschutz arrived at All Saints' in August of 2006 from New Haven, CT where she served as the Associate Dean of Berkeley Divinity School at Yale. At Berkley/Yale she worked with the Anglican Formation Program as well as the Annand Program for Spiritual Direction. Prior to Berkeley/Yale, she served the Associate Rector of Christ & Holy Trinity Church, Westport, CT where she led programs for Church Growth, Children and Family Ministries and Outreach.
A graduate of The University of the South (Sewanee) and Yale University and basically an "East Coast person", Maryetta did not expect to serve the church in Los Angeles. Yet what she found on her first visit changed the way she understood the modern church. "The act of going to church in Southern California is so fundamentally countercultural that the people who wind up in these pews are doing something quite radical and intentional. All Saints' is model for the new mission field of the 21st century - cities like Los Angeles, New York, London - places where the church has lost its footing."
At All Saints' she is charged with Newcomer Ministry, Children and Family Ministry and Small Group Formation. Perhaps the greatest challenge in a place the size of All Saints' is connecting people into the rich life of the parish and much of her work is devoted to just this task as well as taking care of a very large mutt named Elvis (who you are sure to meet if you come to the conference)!
